Should businesses start moving applications and servers to Azure data centres in South Africa? Absolutely, if the services you require are available. The benefits of moving include faster network access and better compliance with the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act. Most advanced and value-added services aren’t yet available, though, and the published roadmap shows that only a few will be by the end of 2019. Billing is still US$-based, and exchange rate fluctuations will affect costing.
