Experienced Embedded Engineer
Pretoria
EXPERIENCE:
2-4 YEARS
Take ownership of the firmware that makes a device work when it's deployed by the thousand, far from your bench - code that has to be reliable, low-power, and able to recover on its own when something goes wrong. You won't own what you build; the client will, and they'll depend on it for years - which is exactly why it has to hold up unattended in the field.
The Work - You'll be trusted with firmware end to end: drivers, device logic, communications, and the low-power, fault-tolerant behaviour that keeps a connected device running in service. You'll work closely with the electronic engineers whose boards you bring to life, design for over-the-air updates and real-world failure modes, and stand behind the code as it scales across thousands of deployed units.
You'll thrive here if - you want real ownership of the firmware rather than a slice of it, you respect the discipline of code that has to recover on its own in the field, and you take pride in work a client will rely on for years.
Because firmware in the field has to fix itself - nobody's there to reboot it.
